This probably should have been a Walking on Wednesday post, but we were too excited not to share today. Guess what? This week will mark ten whole hecka incredible months since Steve quit his job to help me with the business and to pursue the ministry full time. Friends! That is TWO months shy of one full year. Okay, so maybe 10 months is nothing to brag about to most, but to me I am incredibly proud of us for following our hearts. If I think back on the last ten months with all the road bumps and especially all the blessings, it really seems a bit surreal. I can’t tell you how I have seen God working on our relationships with Him and with each other. In fact, just the other night after warming up some leftovers and watching the rest of our family movie with the kids next to the fire, I looked at Steve and told him that I love this crazy beautiful life of ours. It hasn’t been easy lately, but more and more I am trusting in The Lord.

I wanted to give you an update with where we are. Currently, Steve is in the middle of his second semester at The Reformed Theological Seminary of Washington, DC and he absolutely loves it. I have never seen him so happily dedicated to reading/learning/writing/researching as much as he has been to learn about the Christian faith and really just religion in general. I mean, the other day he was on the way out the door and he yelled from the garage door, “Oh! Hey babe, remind me to tell you about Utilitarianism when I get back.” LOL! These are the kinds of conversations we are having. But it is SO incredibly good for us.

ANYwho, I wasn’t supposed to do the typing today. I asked Steve to explain to my awesome blog followers the big announcement that was made at our church Sunday and so I am going to let Steve take over and tell you all about it.

******

Hi everyone! Steve here. As you already know, after years of prayer and discussion, Stacy and I made the decision last year for me to quit my full-time job as an Aviation Project Manager so I could help her with Stacy Hart Photography and begin to pursue a calling into full-time ministry. This was a tough decision for our family, but it is something that we feel we have been called to and are eager to pursue. Although there have been many ups and downs since last year’s big decision, God has been faithful to provide for us in ways we could have never imagined! It’s hard to believe it was just last summer that we got to share with you when I got accepted into Reformed Theological Seminary… you may recall this pic of one happy Steve :-).

SteveRTS-2

Well I (somehow) survived my first semester and I’m three weeks into my second semester. And, as demanding as the program is (easily the heaviest educational work load I’ve ever had), I can’t tell you how rewarding and…dare I say fun?…it is to have the opportunity to go to school for something that I am passionate about and truly feel led to do.

So school is in full swing; which is awesome. The next step for making this transition in our lives a permanent one – just like as it is when pursuing any degree – is for me to receive experiential and practical training in the ministry. Well, as it turns out, Stone’s Throw Church (the church that Stacy and I are members of and absolutely love!) has a need for a person who is pursuing the ministry and has experience in Organizational and Project Management! The position is a Pastoral Internship and is a great opportunity to gain ministerial experience from a great church organization. God is soooo gooooood people! After meeting with our church’s Lead Pastor and Executive Pastor, they have decided to offer me this internship!

However, although there is a need for this position in the church, they are not currently in a financial position where they can’t hire another part-time staff member. To help support the part-time Pastoral Internship position until the church is in a financial position to support another staff member, Stacy and I are reaching out to request support in funding the part-time position…it’s like fundraising for a missionary whose mission is in Delaware.

The overall amount we are trying to raise for the year is $16,500. To me, this part-time position represents the official beginning of my calling (and dream) of a career in ministry and I’d love to have your help in being a part of it.

If you would like to contribute in any way (every little bit helps!), you can do any of the following:

1) Pray. This is the single most important contribution you can make to help our family continue in our calling to ministry and our passion to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ. We fully acknowledge that it is only by the grace and provision of God that we have made it this far and have been presented with the chance to further our work for His kingdom through the Pastoral Internship with Stone’s Throw Church.

As I mentioned above, in order to make this work, Stacy and I have to raise funds for the internship. This is the first time we have fundraised so we don’t know what to expect, but we know every little bit helps, even if it’s only a few dollars.  Thanks!

2) Donate Online by doing the following:

  1. Go to this link: https://stonesthrow.onthecity.org/give/start
  2. Fill out the requested information making sure to select “Steve Hart” from the “Select a Fund” drop down menu.

3)  Send a Check made out to “Stone’s Throw Church” with “Steve Hart” in the memo line to:

Stone’s Throw Church

P.O. Box 677

Middletown, DE 19709-0677

Finally, your contribution is considered tax deductible and should be made with the understanding that the donee organization (Stone’s Throw Church) has complete control and administration over the use of the donated funds.

Thank you so much for all of the love and support you have already given our family. We’ll be sure to keep you updated as things continue to progress on this God driven and faith filled journey.

God Bless,

Steve
