For those of you who don’t know about Stitch Fix or are on the fence about trying it, this post is for you. In short, Stitch Fix is an affordable online stylist service. They send you five pieces of clothing at whatever frequency you want and you get to choose what you want to keep and send the rest back in a pre-paid mailer. If you don’t choose anything, you pay a $20 styling fee, which is a pretty decent fee (IMHO) when you think about the cost of an actual stylist. But, if you keep at least one thing, you don’t have pay the styling fee and you just pay for the cost of the items you decide to keep. You can also get referral credit for every person you refer who gets a Stitch Fix. The referral credit is $25 per person you refer. I totally should have explained all of this in my first post, but I will keep this intro for all Stitch Fix posts going forward.

In my last fix I was overall pretty disappointed about what my stylist sent me, but I still thought it was super fun and had a ton of referral credit left so I definitely wanted to do it again. Based on my last request, I asked my stylist to send me longer blouses/dresses and layering pieces to wear with leggings and a really nice pair of skinny jeans. I then pinned several pins off my style board on Pinterest which you can find here.

Full disclosure: I purposefully don’t look at the checkout receipt or prices when I first open and try everything on because I want an honest assessment on whether or not I like it on me (regardless of price). This way I know I am choosing items based on pure style and not letting my conservative spending make a decision for me. Here are the results:

Item 1: Kensie Crystella Slub Knit Cardigan | $78

Oops! I sent this back without photographing first. But it was fun searching the internet actually trying to find the item to make sure StitchFix wasn’t increasing the prices like crazy. I found the exact top at Nordstrom for the exact same price that was quoted to me. Which, let’s be honest, is just an insane price for such a sloppy top. I didn’t like the way this fit at all and the see-through pattern was totally not my style.

Item 2: 41 Hawthorn McAdams Beaded Neckline Blouse | $58

This was a fun, beautiful, and colorful top. I was excited to see it in the box and was just hoping it would work with my body type. I need more colorful tops in my life. The problem I have with these types of tanks is that for people with bigger breasts these tops sometimes make us look bigger than we are, but in this case I thought it paired well with several cardigans I already have and it didn’t make me look bigger than I am. I see me wearing this with skinny jeans and sandals/flats the most and pairing it with a cardigan for cooler nights.

Item 3: Mavi Gold Nigel Skinny Jean | $138

Oh my word! These are so flattering. I just LOVE them. They fit perfectly! But, that price? Grrrr! I can’t afford those types of jeans. But, lucky for me I didn’t check the price before I fell in love with them so I had to get them…regardless of the price. Only because I knew I had referral credit though…Do you see why you should try this out just once to refer people? Free clothes!

Item 4: Pixley Ivy Mini Tulip Print Blouse | $68

This was a super cute shirt. The pattern was not overly busy and the navy blue color was just screaming my name. Almost everything I own is a neutral color so basically I love almost all things navy blue, black, gray and cream. But the color wasn’t the thing I loved most about this top. This top fits me perfectly and the length was just right. It will be great to wear with leggings or skinny jeans, which are staples in my wardrobe.

Item 5: Renee C Alondra Ruched Pencil Skirt | $58 (not pictured)

This was a super cute skirt and fit me like a glove. I purposefully did not show it to my husband because I knew he would have made me keep it. It was a super sexy fit for those who have the type of booties you get from doing a bunch of squats at CrossFit. The reason I didn’t keep it was because I already had a black skirt that is pretty similar to this and I couldn’t justify getting another skirt just to have one.

My overall opinion of this box was that I was very pleased and it was still SO MUCH FUN. However, I feel like they have increased the price on all items on me. I wonder if that is because I haven’t paid much out of pocket yet….Hmmm…Stitch Fix conspiracy theory? Perhaps. Well, it worked. I purchased three items and I ran out of my referral credit. Boo!!! I’m still getting another box though and I will still keep trying this service for as long as I am getting unique pieces for my wardrobe.
