“Waiting to find your purpose tomorrow is a great way to ensure you don’t live with purpose today.” – Jon Acuff
So I mentioned the other day that I am reading this amazing book called, Start by Jon Acuff. It has been so refreshing to read and much needed at this point in running Stacy Hart Photography. This quote couldn’t be more applicable to my life right now. I’m a huge self-reflector so this post is me being able to self reflect on the past few months of the business during our family’s new season in life. I am very proud of us and the things we have done, and I love my job more than ever right now, but if I were to self-reflect on anything, it would be this…
The past seven months I have had the freedom of Steve working from home and helping to support the business, watch the kids, and help around the house. We have done as promised on the business and school fronts and put our hearts and souls into our individual work while trying to maintain good family balance as well as being deeply rooted in our faith, but I still think I have come up short on the two most important things – our family and our faith. I’ve been super consumed with making my business a full time functioning business that most days it’s at the sacrifice of my quiet time with the Lord and giving my kids undivided attention. Whatever it is, my brain has been consumed with voices that tell me lies, “You can’t do this.” And “you aren’t good enough to be able to support your family in this way.” So I get discouraged and wonder what the purpose to all of this really is and then I get consumed about finding my purpose. If it isn’t this, what is it? That is where this quote comes into play. I have purpose daily. We have purpose daily!!! This morning I woke up in three roles where I can live with purpose immediately. I am a mother, a wife, and a daughter of the King of Kings. I can ensure that these relationships are thriving and not neglected. What a great perspective. I wonder how it would look if we woke up each day deciding to live with purpose instead of discouraged that we haven’t found it. Let’s try it. How will you live with purpose today?
