Before you get confused about the title to this blog post and then try to search for Fix #1 and Fix #2, don’t worry, I didn’t post them. Just this weekend I received my third fix and I thought it would be fun to start blogging what I received. I get a ton of questions about whether or not I like this service and if it is worth the cost and I hope this helps to answer some of those questions. AND, it will be super fun to see how long I keep getting Stichfix based on what I return and keep. Hopefully-fingers crossed- this will be the first blog post to many more in the future. Each blog post will include a pic of the item, my thoughts on the item and whether I kept or returned the item. What do you think? Sound fun?
Before I get into this Fix, I wanted to update you on my other two fixes. My first fix, I kept one shirt and returned the rest and wrote a pretty lengthy response to the stylist telling them the changes I wanted to see for next time. The second fix, they were spot on and I kept my whole box so I was super excited for my third fix.
What I asked for this fix: I asked for more fall/winter elements like plaid print, long sweaters to wear with leggings, layering pieces (like cardigans, vests, etc.) and a good pair of skinny jeans. I sent the stylist my Pinterest links to some favorite fall/winter outfits. Here is what I got…
Item 1: Fun2Fun Chandra Plaid Sleeveless Blouse- Cost $44 :
My initial reaction was that I was bummed because I wanted a long sleeved plaid or flannel shirt and this definitely wasn’t long sleeved, but then I tried it on and it fit perfectly so I set it aside as a maybe to try on with some cardigans I had in the closet. Obviously, the price seems super high for a tank top. I would never spend $44 on a tank top. Did I keep or return it?
Item #2: Fate Gemma Stripe Print Sweater – Cost $58
This was a super disappointment from the beginning. Aside from the fact that it looked cheaply made and felt cheaply made, when I tried it on it was awful. I was a little frustrated with how OFF from my style this was too. And all of this for $58! I could easily find a sweater at Banana Republic for a way better price and much higher quality. This is the first time I was seriously disappointed with StichFix. I hope it’s the last. So, did I keep it?
Item 3: Pixley Dalila Faux Leather Lapel French Terry Vest – Cost $68
Oh gosh! I don’t even know what to say about this. Yes, I asked for a vest, but this? I can’t even….Again, I had a different stylist this week, but I am pretty sure if you looked at my Pinterest, nobody- stylist or not- would send this. Another huge disappointment, but did I keep it?
Item 4: Mavi Heidi Distressed Skinny Jean – Cost $98
These were super cute, but what they don’t say in the description even though it was on the tag was “Super Skinny” Jean. This girl – the one who does squats and lunges and has the quads and bootie to prove it, does not fit into “Super Skinny.” I consider this another fail of Stitchfix because I have stated that in my style profile.
Item #5: Mak Jacklynn 3/4 Sleeve Button-up Cardigan – $38
Finally! We have something that I can work with. I actually needed a charcoal cardigan and this one was perfect. It fit perfectly too! So, this was a must have, but I only liked one other item. Was it worth keeping one or two item or was I going to return this too?
And the winner is……
I kept the plaid shirt and the charcoal cardigan. My total would have been $82 for these two pieces, but I had money from referring people so I didn’t have to pay anything. Total = $0!!!
Overall, I feel like this was a pretty big disappointment. Especially after keeping all of my Fix #2 and loving every single item. I have been raving about this service so I am hoping this is an off box and they read and apply my comments to the next box. They technically did fill my requests (sweater, plaid, and layering pieces). I changed my frequency to every 2-3 weeks for this next one because I was so disappointed this one. I need a StichFix redemption! :-)
It still is a super fun service! In my opinion, it’s been a blast trying to find items that I wouldn’t have otherwise picked for myself, but now have become staples in my wardrobe. And, out of the three fixes and eight articles of clothing I have kept (1 dress, 1 skirt, 1 cardigan, 3 nice tops, 1 tank, 1 scarf) I have paid a total of $35 because of referrals. That is definitely worth it to me. In my opinion, you should try it at least three times before giving up. If they are all bad then maybe this isn’t for you. But I have a blast receiving a box of clothes on my porch every other month with hopes to keep a few long-lasting items for my closet.
