I can’t believe it is already February and I am looking back at my lack of blog posts this year and realizing that adjusting from two to three kids hasn’t been a walk in the park. I didn’t expect it to be, but, whewwww! These past couple months have given me a run for my money. My new “normal” as a mommy of three for the past two months has been a cluster of doctor’s appointments for some post-pregnancy health issues I’ve been dealing with, running the kids to and from various places, and trying to make sure everyone is fed. That sounds easy, but those are just the in between moments. Mainly I feel like my day consists of yelling, short-temperdness, hiding in the bathroom, and wine. And, I’m only kind of kidding. Needless to say, it has been a huge transition for me and I’m just trying to stay afloat and get my body back healthy again.
So while I soak in the first couple months of parenting three littles and before my wedding season kicks off at the end of Feb, I’ve been working on my 2016 photography goals to stretch myself creatively. I’ve been experimenting with light and film and can’t wait to turn in my first few rolls any day now. I have also been working on some side projects for the business that will be launched some time throughout the year so I am definitely not on photography sabbatical. I can’t wait to rock it out this year!
Remember from my last Project 10 post that my three main 2016 goals for photography (on a creative level) are:
1.) Start shooting film more consistently
2.) Experiment with low light in personal and professional photos
AND
3.) stretch myself creatively with details shots in my personal and professional photos
I decided that I would make Feb’s Project Ten all about low light. I find that I am drawn to pictures with deep shadows and little pops of light, but that I often shy away from them because they are different from the light and airy approach to my usual pictures. However, I see beauty in the story telling part of low lighting situations. And I am really appreciating black and whites this month too. I hope you enjoy the post!
I’d love for you to follow and show some love to my fellow Project Ten photographers: paula richwine, cait jensen, lisa o’brien, rebecca bender, parker slaton, claire bunn, rae barnes, lisa turner, erin gregerson, kelly lapp, katie hall, kate neal, emily troutman, heather butler
