Break out the confetti and party hats! It’s our anniversary.
I can clearly remember sitting in my favorite reading corner in Steve’s office at our old house writing down my “Stacy Hart Photography – 5 Year Plan.” It seems a little comical now because I really had no idea what this industry was all about. I remember being a new mom who loved photography and was thinking in five years I was going to be a photographer with a mommy blog and I would be bringing in supplemental income for all the “extras” of our life. It wasn’t the best five-year plan, obviously, but at the time I only knew I loved photography. Never ever did I imagine how much work and heart and time would go into this business. Never ever did I imagine that I could have a business that I would love and that could financially support our entire family during this part of our lives. Five years ago Steve and I defined success for my business and what that would look like in 2015. As I write this I really can’t believe how that definition has changed so much. So many things have happened in our lives that I could have never imagined writing this blog post as a full time wedding and family photographer, two kids with one on the way, and a hubby pursuing the ministry full time. I couldn’t have imagined the awesome clients I have met along the way, the friendships I have made, the ways I have used my photography to serve others or even how much I have grown in the business and in my work. I couldn’t have imagined the challenges I would face along the way – the comparison in the industry, the struggle with branding, the constant decision making with how I want to run my business, and the balance of being a wife, a full time mom, and photographer. Writing this blog post is really a celebration for me. It makes me even more humble and in awe of how BIG our God really is. His 5 year plan has always been so much bigger than mine.
One thing that Steve and I really want to focus on going into our sixth year of business is making the Stacy Hart Photography experience even more consistent and special for our clients and for us. We want to serve our clients better and more joyfully. We want our business to be relational and even missional. We sat down at the beginning of the year and talked about our top priorities for this year and on the top of that list was our client experience. We decided to make tweaks to a few things and what came up was our new Client Guide for our portrait and wedding clients. We have already launched our Portrait Guide and our Wedding Guide is in the works and will actually go to print so we can send them to our future brides!
