I once read on another photographer’s blog that sometimes the best way to find inspiration is to remove yourself from the hustle and bustle of the business. And then just a week or two ago, I read a photographer’s post on Facebook that hit me to the core, “the moment you are doing it all for everyone else, you need to take a break.” Amen!!! Isn’t this soooo good! Of course it’s awesome to serve people, but in this case she was talking about HER art. Think about it. If I change what inspires me for what someone else wants, then I won’t be able to serve anyone with my whole heart. And don’t you want someone who photographs with their whole heart? Sometimes I lose sight of this and it is just really motivating to be reminded on why I started this business in the first place; My love for the ART of photography and capturing moments.
Vacations are always good, but since we are on a tight budget and have never actually been on a vacation (sad, I know…ugh!), I have been taking a Staycation at home. Which is totally okay because I do love my home. I have been finding inspiration in little moments- reading articles, book notes, talking to real and artistic people, praying and going to church, and just really honing in on what kind of art moves me. It’s been nice to have this inspiration and then just letting it rest and settle down into my heart, rather than think of it in passing amongst a crazy busy season. It’s good for my artistic soul, especially before I get plugged into the thick of my wedding season. And did you know that I haven’t posted a blog post in almost two whole weeks and for the first time I am actually okay with that. The blog, although it’s my little home on the world wide web, it’s also kind of the business part. Right now I’ve been so content with just meditating on my inspirational moments. ANYwho, I am back today! And with a whole new fresh outlook on my photography. I am so excited to shoot and to work with couples and families and to be inspired by what I FEEL and what moves me.
I want you to know that despite our lack of online presence the past few weeks we’ve been still dreaming and working on big things at the Hart house. We will be sharing some very special announcements coming up in the next few weeks. Some of them downright crazy and some of them are soooo fun. Like, can you believe I am FINALLY going to have a promotional video this year? I am so excited! And, I finally have some rooms painted in my house so I wanted to share the before/afters with you too. Fun, fun!
But, perhaps the biggest artistic announcement I will be making is that I will be diving head first into FILM photography this year. Gahhh!!!! After months of saving, I just got my first 35mm film camera to practice a year or two before buying the big guy. I am just incredibly drawn to film work and I have been following a list of film photographers (more to come on this soon) for years just drooling over their exquisite, dark, romantic, soft, airy, and classic work. It’s swoon-worthy! When I realized that most of my favorite photographers were film photographers and I started edited my work with a film look (thank you Mastin Labs) it only made sense to do something about it. I obviously liked them for a reason!!! Film has my heart. So, once I get my light meter and a few rolls of film deliverd, I will start sharing my journey through film photography with you. So, so excited!
XOXO!
Stacy
Side note: I cannot remember what photographer’s Facebook page I was on where I read that quote bc I stumbled on her page from my newsfeed. If I think of it, I’ll update this :-)
