Oh geez, I must be nuts! Around this time every year is when I get this crazy idea to sign up for some sort of fitness event to train for. Last year it was the Ragnar Relay and in years past it was half marathons. This year will probably be no different and it is actually looking like I might sign up for the DC Spartan Sprint with my beautiful friend, Krissy, to run in honor of her hero husband, David Stewart. But, that is not why I am crazy. I’m crazy because last night I just signed up for the CrossFit Open. It is a CrossFit competition that takes place over 5 weeks and consists of 5 tests that will be judged and entered onto a website with all the other scores of the competitors. Last year nearly 250,000 people from all over the world competed in the CrossFit Open. For me this is just a great opportunity to work harder than I have in a long time to get better scores than I would if I wasn’t competing and to see how I stack up against all these other athletes who sign up. It starts this Thursday and I will do my first WOD on Saturday. Wish me luck!
