Normally I would still be scheduling Fall sessions around this time, but with the baby coming any day now I am officially on “Maternity Leave.” It’s a little bittersweet because I could still be shooting adorable families and couples in all this pretty!!! As I was driving my daughter to school today I saw the prettiest light was falling through this bright red tree around the corner. It reminded me of a session I had a few weeks ago and how I did the entire session in one spot. Literally! So, I decided to write a blog post about it. I know there are some photographers out there who are still getting in last minute Fall sessions, so maybe you will find this helpful. This post isn’t so much about the colors on the trees, but about how important finding the perfect LIGHT is for photography. All these shots below were taken at 8:30 in the morning on Halloween Day. There was the most perfect light shining through this pine tree of the venue we were shooting at and I literally was able to capture 30+ shots in 20 minutes or less. With a dog!!! I didn’t budge the cute family at all from one spot. They were set up in the perfect place from the beginning and we literally did their whole entire shoot there. My point? If you have yummy light like this, DO NOT MOVE until you have captured all the shots you want. There are absolutely no shadows in their faces and the perfect glow was coming through their hair. Light can literally make or break a session. You have to be aware of where the best place is to shoot and if you find it, stay there as long as you can!

Stacy
